Oribe “A Pair of Fruits” is from Akatsu Kiln in Sanage Mountain Range. Originated with Shirozaemon Kato, it has splendid 700 years plus history.
Particularly high in reputation for Oribe style, this “A Pair of Fruits” was made by Mitsuhisa Nakajima of Harukusa in East Kiln in Akatsu clan. Mitsuhisa is “Akatsu Dentokogeishi” (Akatsu Clan’s Master of Traditional Craft) who has received many famous awards in Aichi Prefecture.
I just love everything about this Guinomi. It is so traditional, yet so cute. A pair of fruits I could see them hanging in early Autumn Japanese wood. It is warm, and comfortable to hold, together with very particular texture to touch – smooth yet natural unevenness on surface of this guinomi gives you extra confidence to hold it and enjoy beautiful Japanese Sake.
It comes in the wooden box with “Guinomi Shunso” written on the lid.
