”シルクロードの記憶” Memory of Silkroad by Terada Teppei is a beautiful unique piece, uneven, flowing glaze creating mesmerising draping layers of blue and green on the outside and a small cosmo on the inner base of this guinomi. Geometric patterns drawn on the leg of this guinomi, recalling part of our culture came through “Silk Road” with a symbol of Oribe spring flower right in the centre of the leg base. You could find many textures with different nuances created by Ao (Blue) & Midori (Turquoise Green) graze applications. It has round and smooth shape and texture. This guinomi is peaceful, healing and nostalgic, a truly beautiful piece of art.
Teppei Terada was born in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture in 1975 into a family with a long line of former potters. Teppei is specialised in Oribe principle pottery, Green, Black and Blue in particular. His design is very unique and has a modern feel to it and its shape is fluid and natural. He graduated in 1998 from Tokyo Zokei University where he majored in Sculpture. Following this he felt the call of his ceramic ancestry and set up his first studio in Seto, an area of long standing historical relevance to Japanese ceramics. Teppei is the 5th generation of Teradas with ongoing traditions his family created a foundation over 100 years ago. Bright, natural and cosmic colours and fluid painterly designs mark out his work which is very tied to Japanese sake culture.
