Teppei Terada was born in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture in 1975 into a family with a long line of former potters. Teppei is specialised in Oribe principle pottery, Green, Black and Blue in particular. His design is very unique and has a modern feel to it and its shape is fluid and natural. He graduated in 1998 from Tokyo Zokei University where he majored in Sculpture. Following this, he felt the call of his ceramic ancestry and set up his first studio in Seto, an area of long standing historical relevance to Japanese ceramics. Teppei is the 5th generation of Teradas, with ongoing traditions, his family created a foundation over 100 years ago. Bright, natural, cosmic colours and fluid painterly designs mark out his work, which is very tied to Japanese culture.
